The Lawmen were awarded the MSBL Kenosha Championship for 2009 after a league investigation found Sports Physical Therapy/Derango's used an ineligible player.

Both teams playing in the championship game protested, believing the other team used ineligible players in the game. The league investigation found Sports PT used an ineligible player in the championship game, while all of the players for the Lawmen met the league requirements for playoff eligibility.

The game was close, with the extra inning outcome being only one run. League Commissioner Ched Ballard said the investigation determined the ineligible player in question had a significant impact on the outcome playing both defense and offense.

The game went to extra innings on Sunday (Sept. 13), 10-9, at Carthage College.

Sports PT carried a 3-1 lead early with the help of a solo home run in the second inning by Ed Wierzbicki. But the Lawmen came back and tied the score, 3-3, in the fourth on a two-run home run off the bat of Adam Lopez.

In the bottom of the eighth inning, the Lawmen tacked on three more runs and took an 8-7 lead, only to watch Sports PT tie the game in the top of the ninth.

Then in the top of the 10th inning, after Joe Ferro was hit by a pitch to lead off the inning,
Mark Lesnik hit a two-run homer to center field.

The Lawmen loaded the bases in the bottom half of the 10th, but they could only score one as Sports PT held on to the lead.

For Sports PT, Wierzbicki was 2-for-4, and Lesnik was 3-for-5 with five RBIs. For the Lawmen, Lopez was 3-for-3 with a walk.

This is the Lawmen's first MSBL Kenosha championship. The Lawmen had been the runner-up in two previous seasons, including 2007 when they were known as the KPPA Shockers.
